FSSC 22000 V5.1

FSSC 22000 version 5.1 is a comprehensive food safety management system standard that provides methods to ensure the safety and quality of food products throughout the supply chain. This standard is based on ISO 22000:2018 and includes additional requirements for the food sector.

A key feature of FSSC 22000 V5.1 is its risk-based approach to food safety management. This requires organizations to assess and manage risks in their processes and products, taking into account the entire food supply chain. This includes identifying potential risks, implementing control measures, and monitoring and improving the process on a regular basis.

Standardization places a strong emphasis on communication and collaboration within the supply chain. This requires organizations to work with suppliers, customers and other relevant parties to establish effective communication channels to ensure continuous information related to food safety.

FSSC 22000 V5.1 also includes high-level standards (HLS), which are linked to other ISO process management standards. This enables integration with other management systems such as quality management (ISO 9001) and environmental management (ISO 14001).

In addition, the standard highlights the importance of leadership dedication, continuous improvement and staff skills to ensure food safety. It outlines the requirements for documentation, monitoring and certification, providing a strong framework for organizations to demonstrate their commitment to producing safe, high-quality food products.
